I've done a painting of corona virus coming from Saturn's south pole," Smolar said. "There are a lot of interesting things happening in the south pole. We actually were studying auroral structure that we hadn't seen before, and actually discovered an unexpected region of dark particles." "The discovery is unexpected because it occurred within auroral blebs," Smolar said. "They're regions of intense activity in the atmosphere. The air particles are high up in the ionosphere and create this amazing motion of the ionosphere."
